How I got a job at National Geographic

For more than fifteen years, I've built my career at the intersection of adventure storytelling and human connection. I cut my teeth at National Geographic, where I spent over a decade and a half directing, producing, and filming documentary projects across nearly 120 countries and all seven continents. That work shaped my sensibilities as a filmmaker—lean, curious, deeply connected to character—and eventually led me into on-camera roles as a television host for National Geographic and the Travel Channel, where I learned firsthand how to carry a story, build trust with subjects, and stay nimble when the unexpected inevitably arrives.

Today, I bring that same expedition-tested mindset to the world of commercials, branded content, and series directing. Whether I'm working with elite athletes, celebrities, CEOs, Marines, or everyday people dropped into extraordinary situations, my focus is always the same: create an environment where talent can deliver their strongest, most authentic performance. My documentary background gives me an instinct for truth and timing; my work with brands—from Delta and Prada to Citizens Bank and Outside—has sharpened my craft for bold visuals and story-driven impact. I’m as comfortable operating a camera in sub-arctic seas as I am shaping a multi-episode creative strategy in a boardroom.

Across everything I make—commercial campaigns, hosted series, large-scale expeditions, or character-driven documentaries—I’m driven by the belief that the best stories come from pushing into the unknown with clarity, empathy, and a sense of purpose. I love collaborating with teams who value curiosity, craft, and ambition, and I’m always looking for the next project that asks for a little more heart, a little more grit, and a lot more imagination.
